DOUCHEBAG OF THE WEEK: HYPERSENSITIVE PEOPLE

When did we become such a sniveling, easily hurt people whose slightest ding brings about death threats and adamant indignation? There is way too much of this lately, to such an extent I even get lashed out at on occasion for acting like a "liberal" or using bad language. To these people I say Fuck Off. Let's see those runner ups in another slow week.

1)The Weather- It is way too cold lately with temperatures reaching 22 below zero here in MA this past weekend. The Green Bay Packers game today will start kickoff at 15 below and could reach below the famous Icebowl of 1967. Oddly, DC will be colder than New England for the next few days due to the Jet Stream bringing arctic air from Canada. BRRRRRRR!

2)Global Warming Deniers- Yes it is cold. Really cold as a matter of fact. This does not dispute global warming no matter what anyone says. This is why climate change was adopted as a better moniker as extreme temperatures are the norm now. And just because one newspaper in 2000 claimed an end to snow, does not give anyone the wherewithal to declare all global warming a hoax based on one idiotic article. Here is a fact about global warming. Because this phenomenon causes more moisture to move into the atmosphere and as the Jet Stream is acting odd as well, more cold and snow is likely during the cold months just as more heat waves are prevalent during the summer. This is called science. Stop screaming about an end to global warming every time we get a snowstorm but then conveniently disappear back into your hole once the scorching heat returns in July or earlier. Places like Greenland and the Arctic are somewhere between 3 and 5 degrees warmer since the beginning of the twentieth century and that is not an anomaly. This is a bellwether for the rest of the planet and one that spells disaster if it continues. If the Earth heats up to a five degree increase world wide, humankind will not survive in it's present state and certainly not with the amount of people on it.

3)NSA- This week the NSA refused to answer the question whether they are spying on members of Congress of not. Who do they think they are J Edgar Hoover? If true, this could have serious implications, especially if they have evidence that say some closeted GOP moron is in reality a full blown queen outside of the Senate. And considering how lax they are with their info, some enterprising entity like Ed Snowden could use that to blackmail said Congressman for just about anything. The NSA is out of control and needs to be reigned in. Congress may do just that if they think their personal secrets are vulnerable. Good.

4)Steven Segal- I liked his first three movies before he became so fat and bloated that they had to speed the film up to make it look like he was moving faster than he was. Now don't get me wrong, I am sure he could still kick my ass as I studied aikido like he did but even at his weight and age could almost certainly break me in half. However, I wish he would stick to crappy direct to DVD films and stop with the idea that running for Governor of Arizona as a good idea as he has suggested. Ugh. Just what the country needs is another aging action star running a state into the ground. Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking into a way to change the Constitution to run for President as well. Stick to films and knocking up your maid please.

5)Windows- How does Windows continue to suck yet everyone keeps using it? Bill Gates fucked up my computer when an unwanted update killed it. And talking to my friends with new computers, everyone agrees that Windows 8 was made by the devil as it is a monstrosity to use, having got rid of the left corner start button which seems kind of stupid. Can we please have some young upstart devise a new program and have Windows thrown to the curb? Please!

6)Anti gun laws- A new study recently released by an anti gun group shocked the writers when their theory went up in smoke about how guns are used. Turns out John Lott, the vilified writer of More Guns, Less Crime, was right and all the vitriol aimed at him was wrong. I read his book and found the methodology sound, regardless of what the detractors invented. But this latest study echoed everything Lott wrote when they found that crime is far less in areas that have lax gun carry laws. Even better, areas with large concentrations of semi-automatic weapons have lower crime than those that outright ban them. Ha! This can be seen in stats taken directly from England or Australia with severe gun bans that show that yes, less people are being killed with guns. The trade off is higher forms of rape, armed robbery (as criminals still have guns) and burglary than here in the US. I'd rather have the guns. If we are serious about ending gun violence, getting rid of the drug war would be a great start.

7)Marijuana laws- Colorado became the first state to allow legal pot and already their tight control on it is spelling problems. First off, the taxes are too high as 25% is ridiculous. Second, the dispensaries are already running out of pot as demand is much greater than they expected. Duh. I know people who smoke pot and many of them are not listless stoners, but doctors and lawyers and the like. They just don't advertise it. If prices stay too high, people will go back to buying from the dealers and saving the cash. As nearly a million dollars was bought on day one, expect many, many states to begin their own legalization as Big Cannabis is right around the corner. Once rich people smell money, values disappear quick.

8)Anti smoking laws- Here in Boston, smoking outside in parks has been outlawed. Some towns are banning smoking in any place with a shared wall or even in your own home. How draconian is that? Look, I don't smoke and never have. But if someone wants to smoke I could not care less. The fact that second hand smoke studies are the worst on the planet should be front and center but instead we are being force fed wrong facts by anti-smoking zealots and communities are rallying behind it. Can we please focus on more important matters and forget about making people freeze to death to have a smoke?

9)Hypersensitive people- It seems lately that the smallest slight gets everyone's panties in a bunch and it's time to stop. Over just the last few days we have had death threats and boycott threats against people for making light of Pearl Harbor survivors, Mitt Romney's black adopted grandson and Madonna's kids in a photo with alcohol. Grow up. Why is it Fox News can say whatever they want with no repercussions while on MSNBC people get fired for saying someone should shit in Sarah Palin's mouth? MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry cried during an apology when some comedians on her show made fun of the whole Romney black grandkid thing by saying "This is the face of the Republican party." That's funny not racist. And the fact that people were up in arms about it is terrible. How come Alec Baldwin gets fired for an alleged anti gay slur, but Phil Robertson says horrifically bad things about blacks and gays and he gets a free pass? Where were all the conservatives coming to his rescue? Natasha Leggero is my hero today for not apologizing for a comment she made on Carson Daly's New Years Eve show. During the telecast she cracked a joke about Pearl Harbor survivors only being able to eat Spaghetti O's. For that she got death threats. REALLY? Anyone making death threats for such an innocuous statement should be arrested immediately by the FBI as they are the bigger threat to society. Leggero rightfully said there are more important things to be mad about in this world than some lame joke told on TV. Madonna got flak for showing pictures of her kids with large bottles of booze on New Year's, which was just a joke, as it obviously was to anyone with a brain in their head. And lets not even get started on Muslims which kill people for the smallest perceived slight. Ohh someone drew Mohammed. Let's kill him.

We have people who demand we stop using words like midget, retard, Oriental or even the team name the Redskins. Even the word nigger has become the N-word for fear of even accidently offending someone. Words only have power of you let them and people everywhere are becoming so intolerant of everything they don't like, rank hostility has replaced civility on any scale. The ultimate in hypersensitive people are those in the Middle East where for some unknown reason, John Kerry and Obama feel they can stop centuries of hostility. There will be no peace until reason enters the picture, which it hasn't yet. The Palestinians will not give up the right to return and the Jews won't give back land to pre-1967 borders. Until those two hurdles are cleared, there will be no peace deal no matter how much you want it. So congratulations hypersensitive people you are indeed douchebag of the week.
