WAR WITH SYRIA APPEARS IMMINENT. HOW FAR IT WILL GO NO MAN CAN SAY.

Facts be damned, it appears that the US and EU are on a collision course with Syria and, perhaps, the rest of the Shia run Islamic states. Everyone is talking trash about the other side and no one has a good solution to any of this. This is one of those damned if you/damned if you don't moments. We can't attack Syria as the repercussions from such an attack could end the world. We can't let the violence continue letting innocent people die either, especially after a so called "red line" has been crossed. Failure to punish someone for daring to cross that red line would make us appear weak and ineffective and allow more such war crimes continue unabated by whoever wishes to without fear of punishment. Either way, a war is coming. And this one may be fought here.

First off, let me start off with the fact that I do not believe for one second that Assad gassed his own people. Unless there is unbelievable evidence, I will never believe it. The reason being is our government has flat out lied to us for so long, their word means nothing anymore. W destroyed any credibility we had left, which mind you wasn't much in the first place.

Speaking of which, Colin Powel was making the rounds this week on the Sunday news programs cautioning against any attack on Syria as "beyond US capabilities," which he is dead on about. Too bad that same level of sanity didn't occur to him when he sold the American people on wrongfully invading Iraq. It also didn't help that one of the worst generals in American history kept talking about how he didn't agree with the Trayvon Martin verdict, as if his opinion really meant anything anymore. However, he is right about Syria and I think he is right in saying we SHOULD NOT get involved here. The downside is too great. I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Here's the big problem: Assad may be a brutal dictator, but without him the country will be even worse, if you can believe that. But history shows once a strong man is removed, all the factions he was keeping in control start to fight for power and that is where the real butchery begins. We've seen it time and time again, most recently in countries like Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia, none of which are doing well. The countries we helped overthrow, Iraq and Afghanistan, are both hell holes still with little hope of going back to the days when the had things like running water and electricity.

Once Assad is gone, then what? Democracy elects Islamic morons who want a religious state with no real concept how to run one leading to even more instability. Many of the rebels in Syria are aligned with Islamic extremists. Are these the people we really want to back? We should have been working from behind the scenes like the US used to do. Now everything has to be a flashy soundbite wrapped in patriotic foil.

But we are going to get involved, most likely to mask the coming economic collapse that seems to be barreling toward us with frightening speed. We almost certainly are going to fire cruise missiles, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

Iran and Syria have threatened to attack US and Israeli interests should this occur. Russia and China walked out of a UN Security Council meeting today meaning world condemnation is unlikely. It is also unlikely that Russia or China will get involved, at least initially. Saudi Arabia has made it clear that if Russia gets involved they will attack Russia using Chechnian rebels which have close ties to the Saudi Kingdom for support, especially during the upcoming Olympics. The big question will be what will Iran and Syria do? They both could use proxy attacks through Hezbollah, Hamas and other pro-Shia forces to attack Israel and US targets. If Iran really wanted a fight, they'll close down the Straights of Hormuz, sending oil prices into the stratosphere and destroying the world economy in one fell swoop. These are all real possibilities of what could occur. If things get bad enough, WW3 may start, one fought with limited nuclear exchanges and terrorist attacks on American soil. We are vulnerable to soft target attacks leading to a huge number of dead/and or imprisoned Muslims, ala Japanese Interment camps. I have proven said camps exist by showing that we did pay for them and the government does not deny their existence. This could be part of what they will be used for.

We need to be ready for anything at this point because missels are going to hit Syria at some point over the next ten days. The aftermath is unknown and kind of frightening. For the first time in a long while, America is looking down the barrel of a gun and no one known if it is loaded or not. Pray it is empty.
