Today, Donald Trump, the PT Barnum of our day, announced that Romney will be the eventual nominee and the losses the GOP are going to have are going to be "HUGE! (The Capitalized word must be said while squinting your eyes and puffing out your lips, all while wearing a dead squirrel on your head to get the whole effect.)" Now most would think that The Trumpster would be using this as an opportunity to sell his failed presidency and how different things would have been if only he had been the nominee. But then, surprise, surprise, he actually gave a decent speech and nailed the one thing that ended the GOP hopes for any sort of positive outcome come November; The Paul Ryan Budget Plan. And Trump was not alone in this theory, as several other columnists also came up with this same theory today. Where have I heard that before? Oh that's right, it was column I wrote LAST YEAR. I repeated the accusation recently when Captain Numnuts dusted off that old chestnut and presented it to a Congress who, not only shot it down, but may have actually urinated on it a few times.
That plan was hated by most of America, except for the beyond stupid Tea Party, who would support baby eating if the GOP suggested it and then fight for their rights to continue their "grand tradition," of tot snacking. Have I mentioned lately how much I loathe the Tea Party?
In short, The Ryan Plan was one in which all social programs are destroyed so we can give even more money to rich people. Anyone not wealthy under this plan would die quickly as the health care plan becomes so unmanageable, only the rich would have access to it. Sure, today's elderly wouldn't suffer too much but their kids and grandkids certainly would and even they balked at the idea of their grandkids being denied medical care. The GOP got a solid dose of flack at the town hall meetings to such a point they started cancelling them. It made the democratic ones, where manufactured outrage was geared toward the fixing of health care, look tame in comparison. A LOT of people were generally pissed about the plan and then they trot it out again in an election year. That's a combination of big balls and abject stupidity. Who unveils a plan that was universally despised again? The GOP that's who.
So what did Romney say about the plan? Certainly his advisers told him what a land mine this plan was, that agreeing with it whole heartedly would be a disaster for his badly damaged campaign, that flip flopping on this issue wouldn't be possible so choose his words carefully? Right, that's what happened right? It isn't.
Mitt Romney, when asked what he thought of the Ryan Plan, said this one word: Marvelous. Not Problematic, or flawed, or promising, or anything that could be written off as vague. No he said Marvelous or, I agree with everything in the Ryan Plan, even if he clearly doesn't. This one word will sink any hope Romney had at all of winning come November. Why? Because I would use that one word in an ad campaign that would crucify him. Here it is.

You could do that all day. When Romney tried to move further right than Santorum, he lost the race and it hasn't even started yet. Republicans and not going to be that motivated to vote and voter turnout for the primaries guarantees that statistic. However, as the GOP has become so anti-woman, anti-gay, and anti-Hispanic, their chances to win in November are remote at best. There is a solid chance that the Democrats will gain control of everything as the GOP may be down for a historic ass kicking. And even Fox News is reporting that tidbit as even they think the candidates may be too far to the right for most of America to accept.
Romney is screwed come November no matter how much money he spends on ads. Because while a lot of us don't think Obama has done a good job, which he hasn't, any GOP candidate may be far, far worse. If the GOP had complete control of both houses, I believe firmly we would be in much worse shape, especially if you were Hispanic, gay, or a woman. Remember that come November because anyone in those aforementioned groups voting for any Republican ever is a traitor.
