I have spent 25 years learning everything I can about hemorrhagic fever, Marburg, smallpox and Ebola ever since my first novel, Dark America, explored the idea of a plague wiping out the world. It went on to sell few copies and is now long out of print, but the knowledge of what I learned stayed with me. And while the media continues to pass on false worries, they are also not telling people the whole truth and our worthless government, here and abroad, is helping along the end of days with stubbornly idiotic policies.
Let's start with the good news. We don't need to panic about one guy from Liberia infecting the planet as was seen by the first American case in Dallas. The chances of that one victim being patient Zero for an airborne strain are very, very low. The bad news is the hospital, Texas Health Presbyterian, made things much, much worse by not following common sense policies by letting someone showing Ebola-like symptoms actually leave the hospital, even though the victim told the nurse he had been to Liberia recently. As a cartoon I out on my site said yesterday, this is how every single zombie movie started.
The truly scary, and almost certainly not true aspect about this, is that there are reports of people coming back from the dead in Liberia. Again, this below story is 99.9% certain to be bull:
Liberia-based paper The New Dawn wrote: “Two Ebola patients, who died of the virus in separate communities in Nimba County have reportedly resurrected in the county. The victims, both females, believed to be in their 60s and 40s respectively, died of the Ebola virus recently in Hope Village Community and the Catholic Community in Ganta, Nimba.”
It adds, “But to the amazement of residents and onlookers on Monday, the deceased reportedly regained life in total disbelief. The New Dawn Nimba County correspondent said the late Dorris Quoi of Hope Village Community and the second victim only identified as Ma Kebeh, said to be in her late 60s, were about to be taken for burial when they resurrected.”
There have been no further reports and as hoards of zombies are not being seen on uploaded YouTube videos, as even Africans have cell phones, we can safely chalk this one up to not believable.
However, the lapse in judgment at the Dallas hospital because if the Liberian with Ebola did have an airborne strain, their moronic behavior would have just ended all of mankind. How much do you want to bet no one will be fired over this, unless of course they blame the nurse, or some other lowly individual rather than on the doctors and administrative staff? Thus is life today.
While many are panicking and removing children from local schools, even though there is a bigger threat from the flu than either Ebola or that polio like virus that has infected a handful of children, common sense be damned. These are the same morons not vaccinating their children for idiotic reasons that defy logic and is being propelled by well educated rich people who are just as easily mislead as the dumbest in society and that says a lot about how smart we are as a people, which is not very.
The biggest concern is why are letting anyone from any of the three hardest hit areas out of that country in the first place without a three week quarantine, which should have been implemented months ago? Air travel should be stopped completely lest a world wide pandemic is their ultimate goal. The funny part is that because of these absolutely stupid, easily fixed problems being ignored, we have magnified our risk tenfold.
Ebola is a mutation quick virus. What that means is, like the flu or the common cold, it can change rapidly and without warning. The more people who get it, the more likely it is to mutate, and in Ebola's case, that means the greater likelihood of person to person infection. Ebola has been shown in the past to become airborne, just not infectious yet in humans. The key word their is yet.
The UN released a scathing report yesterday saying everything I am writing above and that the world's lackadaisical attitude towards this is making things worse. Instead of literally inventing new terrorist groups to go after, like the made up Khorasan/Al-Qaeda offshoot, we should be a lot more worried about this, but that of course fell on deaf ears and a media that ignored it completely. As for the Khorasan group, there is no mention anywhere before September 13th when the White House started releasing information about them. Terrorist experts everywhere that I have seen have said they have no evidence this group even exists except in the minds of out intelligence services. Well that is just swell.
The number of people being infected right now are doubling every week. At current rate of infection, millions could be infected by the end of the year, bringing the chances for an airborne strain to magnify greatly. If an airborne strain does arrive and gets to a slum in India or China, it's game over for the planet. At least 30% of the world population will die and that number may be on the low end. That is what we are fighting against and the world is still shrugging their shoulders and focusing on things far less important.
There has been reported that another case in Hawaii is also being investigated. This is on top of the dozens of cases reported worldwide over the last few months, but all "cleared" of having Ebola, not like they would tell us either way. If the hospital in Dallas hadn't stupidly released an infected man, there is a very good chance we would never have heard about this guy either.
If we are serious about stopping this, we need to stop ALL travel to and from these countries. We need to be making more of that vaccine that has been successful in curing Ebola stat, as we have somehow run out. And we need to treat this a lot more seriously than the half ass way we have been doing.
