AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear Mr. President,

I would like to say thank you for winning, not because we have much faith in your actions as President as previously you did a pretty terrible job, but the alternative was such an empty suit, most of us would have voted for just about anybody. Just look at the criminal line up that was the Republican party nominees: a deranged child hoarder from Minnesota, a bloated windbag who thought a huge credit line at Tiffany's made him relatable, an insane, pizza dude who couldn't stop saying "Nien" over and over while struggling to hold down his right hand Dr. Strangelove style, a rich guy with a dead squirrel on his head and a permanent pucker caused by swallowing his own bullshit, an old man who was right half the time and crazy the other, a half wit Texas governor who stunningly was not named Bush and a religious psychopath that wanted the right to examine lady parts everywhere at the drop of a hat to check for signs of the devil. The democrats could have run a Chris Brown/Jerry Sandusky ticket and still been competitive.

But don't let your crushing defeat of the Mormon-bott deceive you that we aren't watching you like a hawk. A majority of this country want the drug war to end. Even if you think weed is the devil, even the most hardened person out there has to admit the current drug war is an utter failure. Here's a stat for you: cocaine is the same price as it was thirty years ago. How's that inflation thing working with things like gas and our medical system and tell me who you think the real crooks are? You're telling us "We've spent trillions on keeping weed out of granny's hands for her arthritis but, oops, you don't have enough money for heat or rent because we've blown it all. Sorry. Have fun in the shelter when we repossess your home"

The Middle Class is being destroyed sir and you are all that stands between us and the CEO's acting like true robber barons. Here's a few things you can do to start showing us that the government and the elites are NOT trying to drive us into the ground.

1)When CEO's and businesses commit major crimes, could you maybe arrest one once in a while. It came out this week that the government was settling with HSBC over a money laundering scam for $1.9 billion dollars. Not only is this paltry sum a slap in the face to any other person facing a similar crime, no one is facing ANY criminal charges even though the bank was using drug and terrorist money in their operations. REALLY? Mexican drug cartels were using the bank to hold their huge, illegal sums as well as transferring money from embargoed places like Iran and the Sudan to avoid sanctions. Yet, if I were to be charged with anything close to this, I would be facing the death penalty. Considering they made at least $17 billion last year (and most likely much more off book), asking for less than $2 billion seems a little weak.

2)People really want weed legalized. Mr. President you are now in the legacy stage of your career. Trust me when I say many a person's second term is usually marked by scandal and stupidity. Look at Clinton or Bush and how their second term went. Clinton faced impeachment for the dumbest of reasons, repealed Glass Steagal with disastrous results, and got blown by a fat girl rather than stick it in Hillary. Bush claimed "Mission Accomplished," in two wars and then forgot about the troops still there, gave huge tax cuts to the rich and big give aways to corporate America and watched the economy nose dive, and single handedly destroyed ANY chance of the GOP winning the White House for at least eight years. Those aren't legacies. They're disasters. You can change that by backing off on any plans to go after medical marijuana and/or legalization plans as, maybe you haven't notice, but the public is pretty pissed right now. A majority of this country wants you to lay off and the possibility that this fractured country can agree on anything is a milestone in and of itself. Don't piss on the sleeping bear. It won't be happy when he gets up.

Thanks to Teabonics.
3)End right to work laws in this country. These laws will drive us all into poverty as the above graph shows. These union busting laws are killing the middle class and will ultimately destroy the country in the process. We cannot compete with a country that pays it's workers $45 a month. Either place tariffs against goods coming in too cheaply or prepare for a society that, one day is going to wake up, realize that the only place to work is Walmart at $3 an hour, and go on a city wide shooting spree. The minimum wage needs to be raised significantly as, if business is not going to give us the raise we need, it is up to you to fix the shortcomings. We are not Bangladesh. You have said so in your speeches. Now do something about it.

4)Get serious about green energy projects and infrastructure. I know the know nothings in Congress refuse to believe anything resembling science as established facts like evolution, climate change and gravity seem to be beyond their reach, but you have to fix everything that is broken. You gave $16 trillion away in gifts to banks and the rich world wide which did little to fix anything. How about using some of that same capital to, I don't know, PUT PEOPLE BACK TO WORK FIXING OUR CRUMBLING BRIDGES AND ROADWAYS. Here in Massachusetts in just the last few weeks, we have seen a major water main break in Worcester, flooding a college campus, a major blackout in Boston when a transformer blew during rush hour making that commute really interesting, and whole towns whose roads don't seem to have been paved since the Carter administrations (Marlborough I am looking at you). Instead of fracking, how about spending some money on solar panel tech which the Chinese are burying us with. Technology exist for cars to be easily retrofit to run on biodiesel which can be made with things like garbage and hemp. Keynesian economics states that in times of Depression it is wise to pay one group of people money to bury bottles and another to dig them up. Let's try that instead of firing everyone while paying everyone not in the 1% less and less.

5)See the anger that is now front and center in our society. Every society has its ups and downs. The last are always the same; apathy, anger, revolution. We passed anger some time ago, Mr. President so the writing is on the wall for how long before this country erupts. Anyone watching the Michigan protests outside could see the blood boil in everyone there. Hell, a Fox News commentator got punched full in the mouth in the funniest bout of Karma I have ever seen while standing stupidly in a crowd of people who wanted him dead. People have had it world wide, as seen by the rioting in places like Greece and Italy. That too is coming to a shore near you as we have reached a tipping point where the rich have everything and want more and what little we have is being taken away from us to help the "job creators," otherwise known as overlords and us, the slaves at this point. This will not stand and, sooner or later, this will get bloody, as people in Michigan have warned. People will fight to the death here if you push them too far. We are dangerously close to that point now.

So there you have it Mr. President. Five things to think about to cement your place in history. You will either be remembered as a benevolent leader who shook the shackles off us the GOP have placed on us for the past thirty years or a feckless idiot who refused to take the hard steps needed to re-shape this great nation due to cowardice and political infighting. It's your choice sir. How do you want to be be remembered?
